VIENNA, AUSTRIA – April 20, 2026 – The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is pleased to announce the successful implementation of ESR iGuide, its clinical decision support (CDS) system, at the Hospital Universitari del Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CS Terrassa) in Catalonia, Spain.

By integrating ESR iGuide directly into the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system, clinicians now have seamless, in-workflow access to evidence-based guidelines for medical imaging. This digital transformation supports a patient population of more than 200,000 people, ensuring they receive the most appropriate diagnostic care from the outset.

Immediate Impact: Data-Driven Results
The transition from implementation to full operation was achieved through close collaboration between Hospital Universitari del Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa’s medical staff and the ESR iGuide team. After just one month of active use, the platform has already delivered measurable improvements in clinical efficiency:
- 19% of requests were modified to more appropriate alternative exams based on system suggestions.
- 4% of requests were cancelled following guideline feedback, reducing unnecessary radiation exposure and resource use.
- 9% overall increase in the appropriateness of imaging referrals.

“The integration of ESR iGuide at CS Terrassa represents a significant step forward in our mission to standardise high-quality care across Europe,” stated the ESR. “By providing doctors with real-time, evidence-based tools, we are not just optimising hospital workflows – we are directly improving patient safety and outcomes.”
