ETAP Subcommittee

The European Training Assessment Programme (ETAP) is a subcommittee of the ESR Education Committee. It was established in 2001 as a joint initiative with the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) Radiology Section and is currently equally funded by both partners.

It aims to:

  • Improve and harmonise the standards of radiology training in Europe based on the European Training Curriculum for Radiology
  • Provide institutions that offer postgraduate radiology education with objective assessment of their training programmes by external assessors nominated by the ESR
  • Develop assessment systems and guidelines for use by postgraduate education authorities at a national level.

How to turn your department into a radiology training reference centre

In June 2013, the ETAP Subcommittee and the ESR Executive Council have approved the document “How to turn your department into a radiology training reference centre”, which aims to serve as a basic guideline to radiology departments in evaluating their level of quality. The document is based on the European Training Curriculum for Radiology and intends to foster the constant improvement of radiology departments across Europe.
